We are thrilled to announce that Sons, Daughters by Ivana Bodrožić (tr. Ellen Elias-Bursać) has been selected as a finalist for the EBRD Literature Prize 2025. This prestigious recognition comes with a €20,000 prize, to be shared between the winning author and translator.
At Seven Stories Press UK, we're proud to champion urgent, boundary-breaking books. Bodrožić’s novel is a powerful exploration of queer and trans life, and a moving reminder of literature’s ability to speak against injustice with care, clarity, and force.
Here's what the EBRD Prize 2025 judges's had to say about Sons, Daughters:
"With invigorating candour, Ivana Bodrožić’s Sons, Daughters, translated from the Croatian by Ellen Elias-Bursać, is an immersive narrative of three lives linked by differing manifestations of ‘locked-in’ syndrome, and a love story fraught with tenderness, pain and the malign pressure to conform."
