International Literature Festival Dublin (ILFD) is Ireland’s leading literary event, bringing together some of the world’s most exciting writers for a dynamic programme of readings, conversations and screenings.

Join us with Abdellah Taïa at Le Fanu on 19 May, 18:00 GMT.

Award-winning French-Moroccan novelist Abdellah Taïa presents his powerful novel Living in Your Light, written in praise of his mother—a fighter and survivor.

His ferocious and contradictory heroine, Malika, offers a powerful antidote to the sentimentality and exoticism that often shape depictions of Arab womanhood. Translated by Emma Ramadan and shortlisted for the Prix Goncourt in 2022, the novel follows three moments in Malika’s life as she recounts, with rage, her strategies for escaping the injustices of history.

Join us with Roberto Saviano at Synge on 23 May, 20:00 GMT.

What does it cost to tell the truth? Since the publication of Gomorrah, Roberto Saviano has lived under constant police protection, targeted for exposing organised crime—yet he has never stopped speaking out.

His latest book, Shout It Out! 28 Portraits for a Committed World, is both a journey of discovery and an urgent call to action. Moving between figures of courage such as Jamal Khashoggi and Edward Snowden, and stark examples of complicity, Saviano traces a provocative moral map of our world.

Fierce, fearless, and deeply personal, this is a rare chance to hear why speaking out still matters—and why silence is never neutral.
