Monday 9 March, 7:30–9:00pm
Join Julian Zabalbeascoa for a discussion of his debut novel What We Tried to Bury Grows Here, a powerful story set in the Basque Country during the Spanish Civil War.
Through a chorus of voices, the novel follows ordinary people on both sides of the conflict as war fractures communities, forces impossible choices, and leaves wounds that endure long after the fighting ends. The book was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was released in the UK and Europe on 12 February.
Zabalbeascoa will be in conversation with writer and The Write Salon co-founder Willow Mata. The event will include selected readings followed by an audience Q&A.
This event takes place in collaboration with Librería Parent(h)esis at their Madrid space in Lavapiés. The conversation will be held in English.
